The Split Rock Arts Program is the University of Minnesota’s summer series of three-day and weeklong workshops in creative writing, visual art, and design. Held on the Twin Cities campus and at the University’s Cloquet Forestry Center in northern Minnesota, the 26-year-old program is a popular destination because of its promise of intensive study with outstanding artists and writers from throughout the world.
The 2009 program boasts of more than 35 workshops that serve artists of all interests, backgrounds, and skill levels, and all workshops allow for significant one-to-one contact between participant and instructor.
Instructors for 2009 include: Christine Baeumler, Doug Beasley, Craig Blacklock, Susan Brandeis, Sally Brown, Derrick Buisch, Jean Williams Cacicedo, Anna Carlson, Cheng-Khee Chee, Joseph Duemer, Diane Edison, David Feinberg, Candace Fleming, Peter Hristoff, Wing Young Huie, Michael Kareken, Jacqueline Kolosov, Josip Novakovich, Daniel Powers, Emily Richardson, Eric Rohmann, Scott Russell Sanders, Ruth Schwartz, Marilou Schultz, Mara Scrupe, Matthew Specktor, Scott Stulen, William Wenthe, Jody Williams, and more!
Workshops begin each Sunday starting June 14 and end July 24, 2009. No prerequisites. Graduate/undergraduate credit, scholarships, and accommodations available. Online and print catalogs available in late February. Scholarship deadline is May 4, 2009. Registration opens in February.
